What is Reiki?

I will try and explain what Reiki is to the best of my knowledge. Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning (Rei) Universal (Ki) Life Force Energy, an energy which is all around us. Reiki is all around inside and outside everything. Most of us aren't aware of it, but it is there permeating everything. This is called different names in different religions and locations. ie. Mana (Polynesian), Prana (Indian) , Chi (Chinese), Qudra in Arabic and Ki (Japanese) etc. Now all of us have access to this energy otherwise we would not be here as this energy is needed for us to stay alive. Unfortunately as we aren't all aware of it we do not use its full potential.

What makes myself and any other Reiki Master/Practitioner/Initiate so special then? Well my theory is that we are all like small broken radios (please bear with me) , so broken in fact that we only receive a tiny amount of signal from the Reiki Source. Luckily for myself and Thousands worldwide, Dr Mikao Usui found a way for us to be re-tuned or Attuned to this Energy in order to get a perfect signal. Once we have gained this Attunement, we also gain an ability to channel this energy at will, through the palms of our hands.

Fact: The original technique for passing this energy, in order to heal is called Usui Shiki Ryoho (the Usui System of Natural Healing), but nowadays "Reiki" is considered the name of the technique of healing instead of the actual energy used.
